The Campus Bicycle Shop is a collaboration between The Bike Project of Urbana-Champaign (TBP) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and is dedicated to empowering individuals with knowledge about how to repair and maintain bicycles.
Since opening in 2010 through a grant from the Student Sustainability Committee, the Campus Bicycle Shop continues its mission of teaching bicycle maintenance, providing access to affordable equipment, and supporting overall safety education. Read about ongoing collaborative projects.
The Campus Bicycle Shop is a hands-on, educational space meant to provide knowledge and experience about fixing bicycles, not a “drop it off for repair” bike shop. The shop provides tools, parts, refurbished bikes for sale, educational classes, and dedicated volunteers to help shop members and the larger community with their bicycle needs.
Membership in The Bike Project at Urbana-Champaign is valid at both the Campus Shop and the Downtown Urbana Shop. Membership costs $25 annually for students and low income individuals, $40 general public, or 8 hours work equity.
The Campus Bike Shop is located at 608 East Pennsylvania Avenue in Champaign, on the southwest corner of the Natural Resources Garage. The garage is on Pennsylvania Avenue between Sixth Street and Goodwin Avenue; it’s between the Stock Pavilion and the Law Building, directly south of the Natural Resources Building.
We thank the University of Illinois Office of Sustainability, Student Sustainability Committee, F&S Parking Department, and F&S Transportation Demand Management for their support. Thanks also go to Midstate Renewable Energy Services for donating some sweet tools.
